Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element of a belt for a continuously variable transmission and a manufacturing method therefor in which the belt is smoothly turned in slidable contact with a V-shaped groove pulley without generating noise, the step can be finely changed, and the belt is easily assembled. SOLUTION: Belt holding parts 28 and 29 to which an endless belt 45 is fitted and an upper plate part 27 are provided above a saddle part 25 having inclined surfaces 23 and 24 corresponding to inner side walls of a V-shaped groove pulley on both sides, and an engagement projection 34 and an engagement hole 35 are formed on a face side and a back side of the upper plate part 27, respectively. An element 10 for a belt of a continuously variable transmission with a lower side of the saddle part 25 thinner than other portions is formed by laminating element pieces 11-20 formed by punching a strip sheet 39.
