Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a wire for MIG (metal inert gas) welding of a martensitic stainless steel pipe and a welding method for the martensitic stainless steel pipe which provides an excellent bead profile in all-position welding and can present a weld zone having high toughness. SOLUTION: The wire for welding contains 0.02% or less C+N, 1.0% or less Si, 0.2-3.0% Mn, 11-15% Cr, 2-10% Ni, 0.01-0.30% REM, 0.01% or less O and comprises Fe and unavoidable impurities as the remainder, and is plated with Ni on its surface and with Cu on its upper layer. In addition, the wire for welding may contain either or both of Cu and Mo, either or both of V and Ti, either or both of Co and W, and one or more of Nb, Zr, Ta and B. With the use of such wires, the martensitic stainless pipes are welded on their circumference by MIG welding using shielding gas as inert gas in a state that the ends of the martensitic stainless pipes are made to butt against each other.
