Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical writing device and an image forming apparatus in which deficiency in the quantity of irradiation light causing failure of development can be prevented. SOLUTION: The optical writing device comprising a light source array 1 arranged with a plurality of LEDs being subjected to emission intensity control based on image data, and a loof prism lens array 2 is further provided with a means 5 for irradiating uniform quantity of light while superposing on the light from the light source array 1.
