Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of increasing a yield in an alcohol production process. SOLUTION: In this method for producing a 3-10C aliphatic alcohol from a high-boiling component, the high-boiling component is so controlled by an alkali metal compound as to have a neutralization value of up to 2 mgKOH/g, then the controlled component is treated in a distillation column at a temperature of 165-185°C under a pressure of 80-150 hPa to obtain a top component, and further the top component is hydrogenated.
