Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is free of light leaking by spacers even during black display, can prevent the light leaking due to abnormal alignment of a liquid crystal and has a high display grade, and an electronic device. SOLUTION: Spacers 14 holding the gap between substrates 1 are colored and have sticking layers 5 which are surface treated. The spacers are colored (for example, black) and therefore the light leaking by the spacers 4 does not exist any more even during the black display of the liquid crystal display device. Also, the light leaking from the spacers 4 can be prevented by surface treating the spacers 4 to enhance the vertical alignment property of liquid crystal molecules 4. Since the spacers 4 have the sticking layers 5, the sticking force of the substrates 1a and 1b increases and the movement of the spacers 4 by the impact and vibration in a liquid crystal injection process can be prevented and the damage of pixel regions by the movement, the occurrence of a cell gap defect, etc., can be prevented.
