Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery which has a good discharge performance, excellent liquid leakage resistance, and high productivity. SOLUTION: In the alkaline battery in which a cylindrical positive electrode can with a bottom (1), housing a positive electrode acting substance (2), a negative acting substance (4), a separator (3) and an electrolyte solution as power generating components, is sealed with a sealing body (10) having a negative electrode terminal plate (20) and a gasket (40), a length of a side face part (3c) of a separator separating a positive electrode acting substance and a negative electrode acting substance in axial direction is longer than a distance from the bottom face part (3b) of the separator (3) to the lower face of the gasket (40) in axial direction by not less than 3 mm, and the separator (3) is bent and formed in a crest-and-trough shape by pressing its opening end part (3a) on the lower face of the gasket (40).
