PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neighborhood gene information retrieval device outputting a position and an orientation in high-homology base sequence data inside a genome base sequence database with a base sequence as a retrieval key, and information about the significant base sequence of a gene or the like close to the position. SOLUTION: A system has the genome base sequence database 21 storing the genome base sequences, and a gene information database 22 storing the position and the orientation of the significant base sequence of the gene or the like present on the genome base sequence, and other related information. The system has: an input device 1 inputting the base sequence that is the retrieval key; a means acquiring the position and the orientation of the base sequence that is the retrieval key in the high-homology base sequence from the genome base sequence database; a means acquiring the gene information close to the position inside the gene information database with the position and the orientation obtained by the means as the retrieval key; and an output device 4 outputting the neighborhood gene information and the position information obtained by the means.
