Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developing device for an electrostatic latent image, that can prevent an image from being disturbed due to adhesion of toner to the non-image part of an image support. SOLUTION: A liquid developing method of the electrostatic latent image with which an electrostatic latent image formed on a photoreceptor 10 is developed by a toner includes a pre-wetting process which applies a pre-wet liquid to the photoreceptor 10, and a developing process in which a thin layer of a high viscosity liquid developer having a toner dispersed at high concentration in a non-conductive liquid is formed on an elastic developing roller 506, and in which the liquid developer is supplied to the latent image surface on the photoreceptor 10 by bringing the liquid developer layer on the developing roller 506 into contact with the pre-wet liquid layer on the photoreceptor 10 while the developing roller 506 is rotated.
