Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To thin a thickness of an oxygen permeable membrane to enhance a response speed. SOLUTION: This oxygen electrode is provided with the oxygen permeable membrane 5 in its tip to separate its inside from an outside, and a cathode 1 and an anode 3 are provided in the inside of the electrode. The cathode 1 contacts with the oxygen permeable membrane 5, and an internal liquid 9 is interposed between the cathode 1 and the anode 3. A cathode protecting body 12 is provided in the inside of the electrode to surround sides of the cathode, and a tip position of the cathode protecting body 12 is arranged to be substantially coplanar with a tip position of the cathode 1. A tip of the cathode protecting body 12 also contacts with the oxygen permeable membrane 5. A microbial membrane is provided by bonding porous membrane 13, 14 with an adhesive or pressure sensitive adhesive double coated tape 15 and by immobilizing microorganisms 16. The cathode 1 is brought into pressure contact with a microorganism immobilized membrane via the oxygen permeable membrane 5 of the oxygen electrode, when used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
