Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer receiving sheet having a receiving layer with good releasability from an ink ribbon and good adhesivity to a transfer type laminate resin layer provided to the ink ribbon, in an over-lamination dye thermal transfer method. SOLUTION: The receiving layer containing a dye dyable resin as a main component is formed on at least one face of a sheet shaped support to make it a thermal transfer receiving sheet. In this case, the thermal transfer receiving sheet contains, in the receiving layer, a star type (meth)acrylic polymer and/or a linear chain (meth)acrylic polymer having a weight average molecular weight of not less than 300,000. Furthermore, the total amount of the star type (meth)acrylic polymer contained in the receiving layer and/or a linear chain (meth)acrylic polymer having a weight average molecular weight of not less than 300,000 is preferably 1 to 100 pts.mass to 100 pts.mass of the dye dyable resin.
