Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of short circuit between layers while eliminating a possibility of deterioration in display quality of an organic EL display. SOLUTION: An organic EL element used for the organic EL display is formed in such a way that an anode 2 of a transparent conductive film is formed on a glass substrate 1, an organic thin film 3 containing a light emitting film is laminated on the anode 2, a cathode 4 is formed by vapor-depositing aluminum on the organic thin film 3, and a metallic film 5 of molybdenum is laminated by sputtering on the cathode 4. By laminating the metallic film 5 by sputtering on the cathode 4 formed by vapor deposition, tensile stress is relatively produced against the cathode 4 on the side of the metallic film 5 formed by the sputtering.
