Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compactly constituted multi-channel optical module by using a lens member enabling highly accurate passive alignment. SOLUTION: The optical module 100 is provided with a groove group 190 consisting of a plurality of V grooves 192 parallelly formed on a silicon platform 198, an optical fiber group 130 consisting of a plurality of optical fibers 132 positioned and mounted on the V groove group 190 at a prescribed pitch, a light source array 110 consisting of a plurality of LDs 112 arranged at the same pitch as the optical fiber group 130, and microlens arrays 120a and 120b having a plurality of lens parts 2 arrayed at the same pitch as the optical fiber group 130 and an expansion part 5 in a shape suited to the V groove 192. The microlens arrays 120a and 120b are positioned and mounted on the V groove group 190 between the light source array 110 and the optical fiber group 130. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
