Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode prepared by combining an LED(light emitting diode) chip employing a galium nitride compound semiconductor as a light emitting layer with a new fluorescent body and having a sufficient brightness for white light illumination, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A fluorescent body consisting of an oxynitride glass added with a light emitting center is combined with a blue LED chip having a monochromatic light emitting spectrum whose peak wavelength is within 360nm-530nm, to manufacture a white light emitting diode.
