Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize fast searching and improvement of pulse detection accuracy in a synchronizing device for initial synchronization of a wide-band signal receiver employing pulse modulation in combination with direct spread spectrum. SOLUTION: In a searcher 209, for each chip cycle, pulse position candidates of reception signals can be detected per pulse position by using a replica generator for generating reference pulses on which a plurality of pulses corresponding to a plurality of pulse positions are overlapped while avoiding overlapping of pulses in a chip section. Especially, even before the searcher 209 completes all searching after detecting the pulse position candidates of the reception signals, the searcher 209 continues to search, synchronization acquisition for the pulse position candidates is sequentially performed by a DLL (synchronization capturing chasing section) 210, a lock detecting section 208 performs loop lead-in judgement from demodulation signal power, and initial synchronization is completed at the time point of finishing lead-in, thereby realizing high-speed searching and improving the pulse detection accuracy.
