PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which can exhibit colors having desired reflectance and further make the contrast higher than that of conventional devices and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The display device is provided with: a sheet substrate 6 having a plurality of cavities (gaps) 6a; two-color rotating particles (display particles) 3 arranged in the cavities 6a, moving by an interaction with an electric field and having the surfaces colored at least with two colors; and a translucent liquid 7 sealed in the cavities 6a. The device is characterized in that the color of the sheet substrate 6 and one color of the two-color rotating particles 3 are nearly identical to each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
