Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a columnar container such as distillation column or the like and to reduce the consumption of energy in a separation process. SOLUTION: A part of column top vapor discharged from the top of the distillation column 1 is cooled and liquefied to be returned to the distillation column 1 and the remainder thereof is separated into permeated vapor based on water and non-permeated vapor based on acetic acid using the separation membrane 8a of a separator 8. These permeated vapor and non-permeated vapor are cooled to be recovered as liquids. Further, a liquid mainly comprising acetic acid is recovered from the bottom part of the distillation column 1.
