Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe sodium sulfur cell system that is suited for use in a power storage apparatus, an electric automobile and the like, and does not leak a sulfur dioxide gas, a sulfur gas, or a sulfide gas to the outside of a system even if the cell is damaged. SOLUTION: In a sodium sulfur cell system, a sodium sulfur cell 10 including a negative electrode chamber for accommodating sodium, a positive electrode chamber for accommodating a positive electrode active material made of sulfur or/and sodium polysulfide, and a solid electrolyte for separating the negative electrode chamber from the positive electrode chamber is accommodated in a heat insulating container 13. Then, an adsorbent 12 in a sulfur gas, sulfur dioxide gas, or/and hydrogen sulfide gas is provided inside the heat insulating container or/and an opening. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
