PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that easily confirms whether or not set-off or erroneous image elimination by background elimination exists. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a low density image elimination means 45 that converts image information Din into first image information O, wherein image data satisfying a setting condition on the image and including low density image set-off and dirty background are corrected into image data denoting an image with the low density image deleted therefrom, and generates second image information (set-off binary image R, and set-off multi-value image Q) denoting a low density image area; and an image output means 20 for displaying the corrected image represented by the first image information O and the eliminated area image (set-off binary image R) denoted by the second image information, or an eliminated image (set-off multi-value image Q) on a screen 328 simultaneously or alternatively.
