Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device of manufacture for a color cathode-ray tube in which a precise welding track requiring little time can be obtained to the frame part having weak rigidity, and thereby the color selection electrode can be manufactured efficiently. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method comprises a process of applying a force to a plurality of loading points Fi (i= 1, 2, to n) established at a pair of side parts 3a of a frame in the direction in which the pair of side parts mutually approach, a process in which a welding trajectory X'i (i= 0, 1, 2, to n+1) is calculated by measuring the positions of a plurality of measuring points Xi (i=1, 2, to n ) established at the side parts, and a process of welding the color selection electrode element and the side parts by a welding electrode moving along the calculated welding trajectory.
