Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved time stamp management system for a composite medium such as disk array. SOLUTION: This time stamp management system evaluates the random part assembly of a time stamp data structure at fixed intervals. In the data structure, each time stamp element is associated with a disk array or a data block in another storage device. Each time stamp element in the time stamp data structure includes one of a limited number of discrete time stamp values. It is determined whether the time stamp value is to be changed or not by use of algorithms. When each time stamp element is kept, a pointer matrix having a pointer array associated with each possible time stamp value is kept. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
