Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jib boom hoisting method of a crane for reducing costs by restraining necessary capacity of an actuator to hoist the jib boom, and a crane. SOLUTION: The crane 1 is constituted by furnishing a contact member 10 to make contact with a hoisting tool 5 on a lower surface of the jib 4 above the hoisting tool 5 and providing the contact part to make contact with the contact member 10 on the hoisting tool 5, and a hoisting rope 6 is fixed on the head end side of the jib 4 in the case of not handling cargoes and boom hoisting of the jib 4 is carried out by winding/delivering the hoisting rope 6 by a winding device 7.
