Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosensitive recording material employing dihydroxydiphenyl sulfones having poor water resistance as a developer, in which developed color density is made higher, the storage stability of developed color image is made excellent and the water resistance of which is improved. SOLUTION: In the thermosensitive recording material, in which dihydroxydiphenyl sulfones are employed as a developer, specified sulfonamide derivative having an ether linkage in a molecule such as N-(2-benzyloxy-ethyl)-4-methyl-benzene sulfonamide and N-(2-benzyloxy-ethyl)-2-methyl-benzene sulfonamide is employed as a sensitizer and, at the same time, aliphatic amide compounds, waxes, at least one kind of hindered phenol compounds are used in combination so as to get a higher color developing sensitivity, excellent storage stability of an image such as a thermal ground surface finish fogging resistance and a resistance to plasticizer and to effectively improve the water resistance up to at least a practical use level.
