Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which a cycle performance is superior, the initial irreversible capacity is small, and the energy density is higher than that in a case using a carbonaceous material such as graphite for a negative electrode active material. SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery equipped with a positive electrode, a negative electrode provided with a mixture layer containing the negative electrode active material, and the nonaqueous electrolyte, is characterized in that the negative electrode active material is an alloy containing 5 to 25 mass % nickel and 75 to 95 mass % tin.
