Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission for a vehicle having low cost and high energy efficiency. SOLUTION: An electric hydraulic pump unit 112 functioning as an auxiliary oil pressure supply device is disposed in a valve body 106 including at least part of a hydraulic control circuit 66 for gear change control, so that the number of components and assembling man-hour are reduced and hence the cost of the automatic transmission for the vehicle is reduced. A second suction pipe LIN2disposed between a first suction pipe LIN1and an electric hydraulic pump 78 is opened or closed by a selector valve 98 in response to an operation state of a mechanical type hydraulic pump 70, so that the high energy efficiency is obtained and the cost is reduced without enlarging the electric hydraulic pump 78.
