Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrofitted crime preventive thumb-turn which prevents rotation of an existing thumb-turn by means of a wire etc., and requires the user only to perform a conventional rotational operation. SOLUTION: The retrofitted crime preventive thumb-turn 21 covering the existing thumb-turn 23, is formed of an arcuate plate 51, a truncated conical cover member 57, a shaft body 59, a rotary disk 61, and an idling member 65. The arcuate plate 51 is pinched by an indoor-side surface 25a of a door, and a decorative ring 37. The cover member 57 is mounted on the arcuate plate 51 via an engaging means to cover the existing thumb-turn 23, and has a support hole 55 at its tip. The shaft body 59 is rotatably inserted into the support hole 55 formed in the cover member 57 and allows its base-side end to be relatively non-rotatably connected to a knob 31. The rotary disk 61 is relatively non-rotatably mounted on the shaft body 59 protruded from the cover member 57. The idling member 65 is larger in outer diameter than the rotary disk 61, and pinches the rotary disk 61 on both sides of the same to be rotatable around the shaft body 59. Further the idling member 65 has a window portion for exposing the circumference of the rotary disk 61 therefrom. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
