PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing wire rope terminal end solving the problem involved in conventional handicraft working method by mechanizing the processing, and to provide an apparatus for said method. SOLUTION: The method for processing wire rope terminal end comprises the following practice. A wire rope 12 is fixed onto a fixing means 20 and a positioning means 30 is attached to the wire rope 12 extended from the fixing means 20. The wire ropes 12 are disaggregated into individual strands 12 spread radially, which are then aligned with longitudinal grooves formed from the bottom to sidewall of a press means 40 to thread the grooves with part of the strands. Thereafter a pressing piston 50 is advanced to cover the press means 40 therewith and the positioning means 30 is covered with the press means 40, and the strands are bent by the pressure of the pressing piston 50 with the tip of the positioning means 30 serving as a support.
