Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin composition satisfying both high heat resistance and high toughness, having a viscosity low enough to satisfactorily impregnate a reinforcing fiber therewith and useful for obtaining a fiber-reinforced composite material excellent in high heat resistance and mechanical properties such as tensile strength and compression strength after impact, and a fibrous reinforcing material. SOLUTION: The epoxy resin for the fiber-reinforced composite material comprises at least the following constituting elements A and B: (A) an epoxy resin represented by general formula (I) (wherein R1is any one of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a 1-8C alkyl group and an aryl group, provided that each R1is the same or different from each other; m is an integer of 1-4; and n is an integer of 0-4); and (B) a polyamine. The method for manufacturing the fiber-reinforced composite material comprises pouring the epoxy resin composition onto a reinforcing fiber substrate arranged in a mold thereby impregnating the reinforcing fiber substrate therewith and subsequently causing the epoxy resin to cure by heating.
