PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing liquid for ink jets which is excellent in dispersive properties when using a yellow pigment and has good printability and storage stability. SOLUTION: The writing liquid for ink jets comprises a yellow pigment, a dyestuff, and a surfactant, wherein (1) the yellow pigment and the dyestuff at least in a part of which comprises a matter obtained by reversibly adsorbing the dyestuff onto the yellow pigment without accompanying a chemical reaction, (2) the dyestuff reversibly adsorbed onto the yellow pigment without accompanying a chemical reaction comprises one that has not less than 0.02g/g of an adsorbed amount of the dyestuff represented by the formula (I), and (3) as the surfactant, there being co-existing a nonionic surfactant and an anionic surfactant.
