Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion conductive polyelectrolyte having high ion conductivity and high alkali metal ion transport number. SOLUTION: The ion conductive polyelectrolyte is made of a polymer, which comprises a structure containing aromatic rings in its molecule that reacts with alkali metals or organic alkali compounds to produce radical anions or carbanions, the structure containing aromatic rings becoming radical anions or carbanions to form complexes with alkali metals. Preferably, the material is of a structure having two or more aromatic rings that have a condensed structure, a structure having two or more aromatic rings that have a polyphenylene structure, a structure where at least two or more aromatic rings are bonded with a methylene group, or a structure where at least two or more aromatic rings are bonded with a carbonyl group or the like.
