Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding equipment which is equipped with an easily replaceable electrode covered with an insulating material. SOLUTION: A dielectric welding equipment (10) for plastic sleeve welding has a solid-state radio-frequency generator (66) incorporated in a welding tool (30) through a matching circuit network (68). The welding tool has a frame (35) with a handle (36) wherein the frame has a slot which incorporates welding electrodes (40, 44) facing each other. The slot has an opening in one end and is in flush communication with a coarse prong (39) in other end. The electrodes can be pressed each other by operating a pneumatic cylinder (48). Both the pneumatic cylinder and the RF generator (66) are driven by a trigger (50) mounted to the welding tool (30). These electrodes are coated with the insulating material which does not carry out dielectric heating and easily be snapped onto and off. These electrodes are therefore replaceable if, for example, the insulating material coat is in scuffing status. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
