PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient IP multicast authentication method capable of high speed processing by solving problems such as troublesome authentication processing, storage of a key, illegitimate use, and illegitimate access in conventional systems (the IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol), the encryption system, and the address notice system) and to provide an IP multicast authentication system employing the method. SOLUTION: This invention provides the IP multicast authentication method characterized in that an authentication server 3 authenticates a user ID and a password only for the first time, and a router 1 uses a group list table 11 provided in itself for the processing of the 2nd and succeeding authentication so as to attain high speed authentication, and this invention provides the IP multicast authentication system employing the method.
