Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive which records a part of a disk, when a disk closing process or a finalize process has been completed and permits to decide whether the disk is processed, by only viewing the recording surface and to provide a disk display method. SOLUTION: The optical disk unit which performs recording and reproducing for a disk which accepts postscript, and has a user area 20 in which data is recorded, and a readout area 30 which is located at a periphery side of the user area 20, is characterized in that it is equipped with an optical pickup 65 recording the data in the user area 20 of the disk, and a CPU 90 for controlling the optical pickup 65 so as to record the prescribed data in the readout area 30, when it is instructed not to add other data different from these data in the disk as a postscript.
