Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed control system within an apparatus capable of easy maintenance and easy system change. SOLUTION: The distributed control system has an apparatus controller and many field devices, which are distributed within the apparatus and connected with each other through a built-in network, the devices operating independently of each other. The apparatus controller sends operation instructions to the built-in network as simultaneous instruction to many field devices, and reads data traversing the network to recognize control status. Each field device filters receiving data, and stores effective data. The data are not received with point-to-point operation, and therefore it is not needed to request the other device to send data repeatedly. With timer interruption, the field device obtains control information, determines an abnormal state in a related device, and executes a normal or degraded operation control sequence. If a communication data has a data ID, many field devices can detect an abnormal device substantially simultaneously, thereby allowing the degraded operation as a whole. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
