Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable alignment-type optical fiber block having the ability of varying alignment by temperature. SOLUTION: In optical fiber blocks for connecting optical fibers, this variable alignment-type optical fiber block includes a substrate equipped with an accepter at one end of the block, a ferrule arranged in the accepter and equipped with a hole for inserting an optical fiber, a first expanding/contracting block which is interposed between one of the mutually opposing side faces of the ferrule and the inside wall of the accepter and which has a first thermal expansion coefficient, and a second expanding/contracting block which is interposed between the other one of the mutually opposing side faces of the ferrule and the inside wall of the accepter and which has a second thermal expansion coefficient.
