Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an undriven roll which has low inertia and an excellent function capable of easily following a change of conveying speed of a product. SOLUTION: The undriven roll is composed of a hollow body, whose side body part has a layered structure comprising a steel layer, a fibre-reinforced plastic layer and a hardenable thermal sprayed coating layer in order from the inner circumferential surface side to the outer circumferential surface side. Thus because the roll has a sufficient rigidity though it is light and has a lower moment of inertia than an ordinary roll, the roll requires a reduced amount of power for its start, deceleration and stoppage, and does not cause damage on a product.
