Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the recording density and recording capacity in hologram recording and to downsize a recording device or reconstructing device for the same. SOLUTION: The hologram recording device (100) is provided with a spatial optical modulator (15) which is arranged in an optical path of signal light (L1), is divided to a plurality of cell blocks (151) arrayed in a matrix form and is divided to a plurality of cells (152) arrayed in a matrix form and is modulatable in the units of these cells and control means (16) which controls the spatial optical modulator so as to modulate the signal light according to each of a plurality of the recording information to be recorded in a recording medium (200). A plurality of the modulation units (153) existing within the same cell block are not formed as the cell patterns which are the same as each other. A plurality of the cell blocks of the pitch greater than a pixel pitch are simultaneously or successively turned on/off and therefore the spacing between the zero order light and the higher order light can be narrowed.
