Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for treating mowed grass by which the mowed grass is compressed and is processed to compressed mowed grass molding of high availability. SOLUTION: A mowed grass raw material 101 is carried in a lower compression region B between a lower hot plate 23a above which a rib-shaped metallic mold 23d is provided and an upper hot plate 22g below which a planar metallic mold 22h is provided. Water is supplied from a water supply means 30 to the lower hot plate 23a heated by a heater and steam is supplied to the mowed grass raw material 101 from a first moisture passage 23c provided in the lower hot plate 23a and a second moisture passage 23e provided in the rib-shaped metallic mold 23d. A second pressing member where the upper hot plate 22g is provided is slid and moved downward and the mowed grass raw material 101 carried in the lower compression region B is heated and compressed in an steam atmosphere.
