Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reformed gas producing system having improved starting property and a start-up method. SOLUTION: In the reformed gas producing system which is provided with a reforming apparatus provided with a reforming reaction part 2 where a gaseous starting material and reforming water are supplied to produce a reformed gas, a shift reaction part 3 and a selective oxidation reaction part 4, and a combustion apparatus 1 for producing a combustion gas to supply heat to the reforming apparatus 5 and in which a heat exchanger 6 for transferring the heat of reaction in the selective oxidation reaction part 4 to reforming water is provided on a rout of a reforming water supply pipe 9 for connecting a reforming water supply port 7 to a reforming reaction part inlet 8, a reforming water flow passage switch valve 10 is provided between the reforming water supply port 7 and the heat exchanger 6 on the rout of reforming water supply pipe 9 and a reforming water detour pipe line 11 for connecting the reforming water flow passage switch valve 10 to the reforming reaction part inlet 8 is provided.
