Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a means for stably producing manganese oxide which has a high tap density, and is suitable, e.g. as the raw material for producing the positive electrode material of a lithium secondary battery in a high production yield at high working efficiency. SOLUTION: Manganese carbonate is roasted, so that manganese oxide is produced. In this case, as shown in figure 1, a rotary kiln is used as a roasting furnace. Further, manganese carbonate is fed from a raw material charging port while making the inside of the furnace to a low oxidizing atmosphere (e.g. an atmosphere having an oxygen concentration of <15%), and roasting is started. Also, as an oxygen-containing gas (such as a gas having an oxygen concentration of ≥15%) is blown into the roasting raw material at a position in the furnace while keeping a distance from the raw material charging port of the rotary kiln, the roasting is continued. The atmospheric temperature in the furnace is preferably controlled to 400 to 600°C. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
