Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye-sensitized solar cell having high cell performance. SOLUTION: This dye-sensitized solar cell comprises, as constituent elements, a semiconductor electrode with sensitizing dye adsorbed thereon, a charge transfer layer and a counter electrode. The counter electrode satisfies the relation b>a, where a (mA) denotes the oxidation-reduction electric current value difference measured in a negative potential region of not lower than -0.7 V but lower than 0 V, and b (mA) denotes the oxidation-reduction electric current value difference measured in a positive potential region of 0-0.7 V by using cyclic voltammetry with the oxidation-reduction potential of ferrocene set as a standard.
