Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise leakage from inside an outdoor unit and to protect electric parts by preventing intrusion of rain water or small animals into the outdoor machine in a separate-type air conditioner. SOLUTION: In this separate-type air conditioner comprising an outdoor unit provided with an electrical component box having a cooling air inlet for intake of cooling air from an equipment chamber and a cooling air outlet for exhausting the cooling air having circulated inside and an indoor unit connected to this outdoor unit through a connection pipe, the outdoor unit has a joint for connection pipe in the neighborhood outside the side face of the equipment chamber and a joint cover covering this joint. The side board of the equipment chamber has an inlet for outside air for intake of outside air as the cooling air of the electrical component box within the equipment chamber at a portion covered by the joint cover.
