Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reliability relating to a long-term operation of a NaS battery by preventing erroneous detection of a discharge end and a charge end, and to reduce capacity of power receiving equipment such as a transformer by reducing variations in heater power consumption during operation of the NaS battery. SOLUTION: This control device for a sodium - sulfur battery 12 is composed of a plurality of battery modules 14 connected in series, and is characterized by providing a temperature measuring means, a voltage measuring means and a current measuring means for measuring at least temperature, voltage and current of the modules 14 in a single controller 13, and preferably comprises a means for detecting the discharge end and the charge end.
