Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber for a vehicle equipped with a damping device of new structure capable of effectively reducing vibration transmission from the wheel side to the body side in the suspension mechanism with simple structure. SOLUTION: A mass member 48 is held by a bump stopper externally fitted around a piston rod 26 of a shock absorber body 12 and the mass member 48 is made to be elastically contacted to a cylinder 24 or the piston rod 26 repeatedly at the time of vibration input.
