Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of conventional methods: a method of mounting an engine generator as a driving power supply in case of power failure, which needed power generation output two or three times as much as that of commercial power supply from the viewpoint of a margin of characteristics peculiar to the engine generator and required an extremely large-sized engine generator; and a method of using a large-capacity battery, which needed high cost for a station, resulting in contradiction to extending communication areas by increasing as many inexpensive stations as possible. SOLUTION: This power supply unit comprises a small battery 15 connected with a DC power supply unit 14 and charged when a commercial power source 17 is supplied, and a small alternator 18 powered by an engine in case of power failure of the commercial power source 17. By operating the small alternator 18 in case of power failure, rectified DC power supply is supplied directly to a wireless device 13. Thus, a combination of the small-sized battery and the small-sized alternator can realize an uninterruptible power supply unit for an extremely small-sized mobile radio base station.
