Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve low power consumption and to make processing concerning time-of-day executable without leading to performance degradation. SOLUTION: A CPU 10 incorporates an internal RTC 10a for generating time-of-day information. Besides, an external RTC 14 is provided outside the CPU 10. The external RTC 14 is supplied with power from a power source 18 even while power supply to the CPU 10 is halted, and the time-of-day information is backed up continuously. The CPU 10, if it is started up from a state in which the power is not backed up, reads out the time-of-day information from the external RTC 14 to set it in the internal RTC 10a, and thereafter uses the time-of-day information generated with the internal RTC 10a to execute the processing concerning the time-of-day.
