Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a liquid drop discharge head with a high yield which has a high reliability and a high ink discharge efficiency and is capable of high image quality printing. SOLUTION: An electrostatic attraction is generated between electrodes 4a and 4b of a movable plate 5 by impressing a voltage between the electrodes, and the movable plate 5 is deformed by a slight displacement of electrodes 4, whereby liquid drops 12 are discharged. Since the movable plate 5 is electrically isolated from the electrodes 4, the voltage impressed to the electrodes 4 is prevented from leaking towards the movable plate 5. The voltage can be efficiently impressed to the electrodes 4. Although a short circuit is brought about to result in operation failures in some cases when small dust is laid on the electrodes or minute water drops are generated at surfaces of the electrodes 4 by a humidity of the air because a void between the electrodes is considerably minute, a withstand voltage can be improved and the operation failures due to the short circuit between electrodes can be reduced by setting an insulating film 26.
