Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which prevents a rotary body from being damaged even in case a separation claw is pressed beyond a specific degree, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The fixing device is provided with a guide member 65. In the guide member 65, a guiding part 66 is disposed on substantially the same plane as the transport plane 55 of the separation claw 50 when the separation claw 55 is moved against the action of a spring 63 with the result that a support shaft 61 is moved from a slide contact position to a separation position in a long hole 62.
