Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber ribbon with which the fiber cord separation of an optical fiber is easily carried out without requiring large tearing force in arbitrary length when separating the optical fiber into a single fiber in the middle portion of the coated optical fiber ribbon in a live-line, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: In the coated optical fiber ribbon 11 having a plurality of coated optical fibers 12 closely arranged in a line and integrated with a common coating layer 13, at least one groove 14 or slit 14' is formed on the broad surfaces 13a and 13b of the common coating layer 13 along the longitudinal direction of the coated optical fiber 12. The groove 14 or slit 14' is formed at least just above, just under or between the coated optical fibers at both ends and the inside coated optical fibers adjacent to the former.
