Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a good magnetized pattern on a magnetic medium the coercive force of which is equal to/higher than 398 kA/m (5000 Oe). SOLUTION: The magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium 2 is magnetized with a direct current in one track direction and, in a state in which the magnetic recording medium 2 is in close contact with a magnetic transfer patterned master carrier 3 having a magnetic layer pattern according to predetermined information, a transfer magnetic field is applied in a direction roughly opposite to DC magnetization to form a magnetized pattern corresponding to the information on the magnetic layer.
