Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing material hardening method and hardening device capable of preventing deviation between a pair of substrates stuck together, obtaining a fixed ultraviolet ray illuminance distribution even in the irradiation area of a wide range, enabling the easy separation of the substrate and a mask or the like and improving the production efficiency and quality of a liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: An ultraviolet ray shield plate 2 is positioned and carried to an overlay position, the position data of the ultraviolet ray shield plate 2 at the overlay position are stored and it is carried to a positioning position. A liquid crystal material 1c is dropped to one substrate 1a, an ultraviolet ray setting sealing material 1b is applied on the other substrate 1d, the pair of the substrates 1 stuck together are positioned and carried to the overlay position, and the position data of the pair of the substrates 1 at the overlay position are stored. These position data are compared with each other and the position of the pair of the substrates 1 is adjusted. The ultraviolet ray shield plate 2 is overlaid on the pair of the substrates 1, both 1 and 2 are irradiated with ultraviolet rays and the sealing material 1b applied on the other substrate 1 is cured.
